Just over a year ago, BMW released their new plug-in hybrid called the BMW Launch. The car’s new technology, called Powertainer, allows the BMW Launch to double the number of miles it can drive before needing a recharge. BMW is currently gearing up to release two more plug-in hybrids in the future, one called the EAFC and one called the EQC. BMW has said that they are planning for many more plug-in hybrids in the future.
I believe that the next BMW release will have even more energy efficient gas alternatives. It makes sense to me that if someone is going to make an electric car, they might as well give you the easiest to convert to an electric car. I believe that by offering the smallest battery, you will see a higher volume of demand for electric cars. After all, how much power do you need to propel your vehicle? The lower the energy required, the easier it is to produce a zero emission car.
A new BMW battery by itself may not be very powerful. But if you buy a series of batteries that complement each other, they can collectively produce more power than needed. This will reduce the weight of your vehicle and allow it to have more passenger space. If you have ever driven a car with a big engine and a small battery, you know how painful that can be. A series battery can take out some of that pain.
There are several battery technologies out there. One is NiMH type, which can charge other batteries. Another is deep cycle technology, which will allow your car to run continuously without recharging. A high performance BMW battery can run at 100% output for several hours or more without recharging. This is just one example of how technology has improved over the last few years.
The battery alone is not going to make a difference. You must have good driving habits and also have room for a larger number of passengers. A new electric car doesn’t mean you have to give up comfort. On top of everything else, you have to ensure the car you buy will fit into your driveway.
This can often be overlooked by prospective buyers. Don’t let that happen to you. Remember the last time you drove across town in your parents car. Now it’s your turn, so get ready to be surprised!
